I'm working on plans for a new build. I picked out a case that requires a micro ATX. I've never built with one before. I tried to learn about current 9k series motherboards. I realized an X870E or X670E was what I wanted. Then I realized they don't make them in a micro atx ff. Any advice for a rookie to sff, from someone that has used a sff before?

Thanks.

What is the make & model of the case ?
Well anyway,
As with any build you must pay attention to component measurements, and of course the smaller the FF, the more attention that is needed. You may be paying a little more for certain components and less for others.
If aesthetics are important inside and out, then you'll want to keep cable routing in mind, especially where TG panels are implemented. I recently built one using a Goodisory A09, which is only 9"x7.4"x3.5", I installed the EPS cable before the motherboard so it would be completely hidden and had to remove the case's front panel PCB in order to set the mini-ITX motherboard into place. I also had to disassemble the cpu cooler, turning its fan ninety degrees, so that the bulging AMD logo would clear the RAM slots.
Smaller form factors can sometimes require a bit more creativity.

Here's the build (No.1) that used that Goodisory case. No.2 wasn't near as small but it does use a MicroATX board: #5108 of Toms Hardware Member System Gallery

Thermaltake Tower 300. Can't seem to find hardly anything. Started looking for x870E and x670E. Got one result back. Tried looking for lower boards, and it's hard finding anything there too. Seems like there is more available down at B boards. I realize you give up extra m.2 slots and whatnot because of space, but I didn't realize you had to give up access to pcie 5 for 4 etc.

If you stick with mATX, you'll find that 850/650 based chipset motherboards are prevalent. Some of these perform quite well.

This is a decent mobo:

Building a mATX system is really no different than building a larger form factor system. When you step down to mini ITX, then you really need to plan how you put your build together (in what order) because you have VERY limited space to do so.
